A Greener Mindset
As a member
of the U.S. chemical industry, Hercules’ investments in stewardship are
part of the more than $11 billion spent annually
by the business of chemistry to reduce emissions and protect the
environment. Pollution control programs have been implemented throughout
the industry.
The chemical industry has been demonstrating for decades that a commitment
to environmental improvement is the cornerstone to its operations. By EPA’s
own measures, the chemical industry has reduced
toxic emissions by more than 73% since the late 1980s, even as
overall chemical production has increased. More than 92% of Superfund site cleanups
are either completed or underway. Industrial discharges to the nation’s
waterways are but a small fraction of the remaining problems that are now
driven by urban and agricultural runoff.
These advances have been achieved, in part, through the development of
new technologies and
continued investment in new equipment,
processes, and procedures. Many chemical industry products are used directly
to clean and protect the environment, protect health, or provide safety.
Hercules remains committed to protecting the

Responsible Care company, Hercules' policy is to meet or exceed all
applicable federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental laws
and regulations.
With our history and culture of looking to nature for renewable, readily
available raw materials, Hercules is helping to
decrease dependence on petroleum. The result is often cleaner,
greener products and processes that improve efficiencies and performance.
Through ongoing communications with customers, the industry, communities,
and regulators, we are keeping our finger on the pulse of environmental
trends and continuing to improve our stewardship performance.
