Hercules Brazil Helps Local Community
 

For the past three years, the employees of Hercules Brazil have been involved in community work with the “Elisa Maria Community” an extremely impoverished area located in the North Zone of São Paulo city.

Every year employees donate food, clothes, shoes, toys, and books for the children. “The economic and social reality of this community is total poverty,” explained Marlene Muniz, Human Resources Manager for South America. “Recently, we asked for donations of winter clothes and blankets,” Marlene said. “We have received some help from employees, mainly from the Paulínia plant, but we need more.”

A recent project involved obtaining a wheelchair for Mayara, a disabled young girl. “Employee contributions and a corporate match made this possible,” said Marlene. “There are no words to describe how happy this girl and her family were when they received this gift.”

Marlene is currently working on a project to help the local school, which is small and not able to accommodate all the children in the community. “In this community school, they offer programs in music and theater …not just for children but for older people as well. Many people want to increase their knowledge and are looking for a better life and relief from the culture of drugs and crime so prevalent in destitute neighborhoods," Marlene noted.

“We thank all local Hercules employees who have been contributing in any way they can,” said Marlene.
